Hunter's Fall pt.15
Mercy was very used to watching patients wake up confused and disoriented, but being on the other side of such a situation was something relatively new to her. She at least remembered some of what had occurred through her foggy state- talking to Masuyo, drinking something strange, laying her head down for a moment, and then slowly regaining consciousness only to find herself lying face-up on a counter top.
"Finally!" exclaimed Col when he saw her open her eyes. "I was starting to think I'd have to drag you back to the hospital. Being in here gives me the creeps."
Here. Where was here, she wondered. Oh yeah, they hadn't left the shop yet. She sat up and shook her head, slowly coming back to her senses.
"Should've called my dad." she said hazily. "He would've sent someone for us."
"How was I supposed to do that?" He was even jumpier and more irritating than usual, Mercy noted.
"You could have used my- Wait, you don't know how to use a cellphone, do you?" The pause and blank expression fr

He pulled up a seat at the far end of the bar. The only other people around were an annoyingly cheerful group of friends drinking at the other end, the bartender, and a fairly young looking Latino man sitting a few feet away. There was some slow, dreary sounding song coming through on the radio, but there was no way he would have recognized it even if he'd given the words any real attention. The lights were low and flickered from time to time, it was a cheap joint, but peaceful enough.
He rested his head in his arms. He'd only stopped to get an idea of where he was, but suddenly the thought of walking back out into the night sounded less and less appealing.
"Hey, kid." The bartender gave him an incredulous look. "We check ID here. Twenty-one and up only."
"I didn't come in to drink." he scowled. "I just needed a break, some food maybe."
"Twenty-one and up only, for anyth
Believe it or not, Mask's- or at that time, Emmett's- original hair color was brown. It wasn't even a particularly good-looking shade of brown, just boring old color-of-dirt brown. Well obviously that had to change when he met Breach.
Mask was never what you might call "dull". In fact, he was closer to what you might call "dangerous" or maybe "homicidal". But when he was with Breach he felt dull. He felt boring and bland and useless because she was just so much more. Crazy, childish, amazing. Of course, these weren't things he noticed right away. When he died his hair for the first time, he told himself it had nothing to do with her.
Brown never quite suited him anyway.
It was a good enough color, surely one that would stand out in a crowd. Breach seemed to approve of it too, not that it mattered to him. He ran his fingers through spiked tufts of dark blue and pretended that he was blue all over, blue as the ocean, blue as the sky.
The skies were always bluest in Breach's

"So who're we going to see?" Col yawned and leaned against the cool glass of the bus window. As it turned out, his roommates had a couple of odd sleeping habits- Eddy took to tossing and turning in his sleep and while Jared didn't often sleep during the day with the Vamps, when he did, he snored. A lot. Well, it wasn't the first time the young Vampire had shared a room, but that was long ago and the new situation tool some getting used to.
"A friend. A pen-pal actually, from Shibuya, Japan. She's been a great help with the family business but this will be our first time meeting in person." Mercy sipped some sort of cheap frozen coffee drink she had picked up while they'd waited for the bus just after sundown. God knows she needed the caffeine.
"What's someone from Japan doing in Nevada? Wait, don't care. What I want to know is why I've got to come with you to meet her."
She frowned and pulled a scrap of paper from her coat pocket. Always with that white coat, Col noted.
"If you must kn
